Red Steel 2 with Motion Plus (Wii)

When the Nintendo Wii was released, we were promised a game that would simulate sword and gunplay like we’ve never experienced, and we got it. Red Steel was a massive stretch at attempting to make the ultimate game. Three years later however, and Ubisoft has now come out with a reboot.

In a mashup between the Old West and futuristic Japan, the game is set in the town of Caldera, Nevada. You play as one of the Kusagari, returning home after a five year ban to see your home in flames. The motorcycle gang called the Jackals were behind it, but there’s more to it than just a bit of looting. Wielding a samurai sword and a pistol, your attacks combine the two into great combo attacks. Try ‘The Matador’, and you’ll be dodging bad guys to the side and slicing them up.

Using the WiiMotion Plus attachment, your movements are more precise and correctly judged to make the sword fighting an extremely more enjoyable experience. Mix this in with the gun actions and your arms will have no issue building a bit of muscle swinging them around to attack, dodge and defend. If you’re looking for a bit more out of your Nintendo Wii, this is worth a play.
