Comments about Survival of the Dead:
Survival of the Dead is Romero's 6th film in the 'Living Dead' series. Continuing from Diary of the Dead in a tangential way, Survival is a bit quirky by zombie movie standards. It focuses on a family feud on a remote island, and some theology thrown into the mix of how to deal with the returned dead. There is a rich streak of black humour in this film, which I found a bit surprising, given Romero's penchant for biting social critique. As usual, there are some rather inventive (often quite funny) zombie kills. An interesting partner to Diary, and enough to whet the interest for where Romero takes his zombie franchise from here.
Service and delivery comments:
Survival was on back order when I ordered it, and I ended up seeing it at Melbourne's film festival before it arrived by post, but still CDWOW kept me fully apprised of its status, so I have no complaints there.
