Description
The son of a captain who was killed in action, James Kirk (Chris Pine) is an incredibly intelligent but unmotivated rebel who is challenged by his father’s comrade Christopher Pike (Bruce Greenwood) to become part of Starfleet like his father. The half-Vulcan, half-human Spock (Zachary Quinto) grew up under scrutiny by his peers from his bloodline, and after considering future after an emotional outburst, decides to become part of Starfleet. These two men will become friends, but not without an intense battle between the USS Enterprise and the Romulans, led by Nero (Eric Bana).
With an ensemble cast giving the characters a fresh start like McCoy (Karl Urban), Sulu (John Cho), Chekhov (Anton Yelchin), Uhura (Zoe Saldana). Simon Pegg is great comic relief as Scottie. With plenty of references to the TV series, as well as a very un-cheesy cameo by old Spock (Leonard Nimoy), this film has boosted the series to a higher, and more anticipated level for the sequel.

Comments about PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT Star Trek (2009):
This is an excellent new take on the original Star Trek universe. As a stand-alone action movie it works very well, but avid Trekkies will find plenty to enjoy also. The movie traces the Star Trek characters as they first arrive at Starfleet Academy and embark on their first mission. There are lots of Star Trek in-jokes as the characters get to know each other and many iconic Trek moments are referenced.
You don't need to be a Trekkie however to enjoy this film. The story is interesting, the pace is fast, and the special effects are excellent and serve the storytelling well.
Highly Recommended.

THE REIMAGINING OF STAR TREK IS A GREAT START FOR FIRST TIME TREKKIES ,BECAUSE IT TELLS THE STORY HOW KIRK AND CO FIRST GOT TOGETHER SUPPOSITLY .THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE WHAT YOU WOULD EXPECT FROM A STAR TREK MOVIE AND MORE ,ALTHOUGH THE STORY IS A BIT FLIMMSY ,YOU CAN TELL THAT THE FILM MAKERS WERE AVID STAR TREK FANS BECAUSE OF THE CHARICTURES AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL SUCH AS PUTTING BACK THE LIGHT SHINNING ON THE ENTERPISE .ALL IN ALL A GREAT MOVIE

Comments about PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT Star Trek (2009):
This movie was totally fantastic if you've hardly ever seen any Star Trek previously but on the other hand certain things happen in the movie that go against the storyline from all the previous movies and tv shows that preceded it! The casting of the crew for this trek movie was brilliant with most characters staying true to their accustomed appearances and behaviours.

Comments about PARAMOUNT HOME ENTERTAINMENT Star Trek (2009):
As I was a bit of a "Trekkie" when the original series was shown on television, I began watching this movie with plenty of apprehension. I loved the original TV characters of Spock, Kirk, Bones, Scotty and the rest, and I doubted that I would be able to appreciate the newer versions. But I was wrong. With this movie J J Abrams has given Star Trek a whole new lease of life. The script stayed faithful to the original story, and I was able to fully accept the "new crew" of the Enterprise. A final mention has to go to the special effects, which were stunning. I hope there will be sequels, as Star Trek deserves to be kept alive and fresh for audiences for years to come!
