Press Reviews
In truth, they haven't wandered too much further down that desert path with BROKEN, but have delivered a follow-up that expands on what worked well last time around, richer in colour and bolder in intent Clash
The majestic gospel rocker, 'Some Misunderstanding' renders the recent Verve reunion obsolete, and the Will Oldham cover, 'You Will Miss Me When I Burn' is pure gold The Times

Comments about PID Soulsavers - Broken:
Definitely one of the best 2009's CDs I heard (yet). More organic and less electronic than Soulsavers' two previous albums ('Tough Guys Don't Dance' and 'It's Not How Far You Fall It's The Way You Land'), it firmly cements Mark Lanegan's status as the most towering male vocal in today's alternative rock. It also succesfully presents a new and very talented Australian female voice to general public - that of Rosa Agostino's (or Red Ghost).
Although I find each and every track of 'Broken' awesome, it simply doesn't get any better than fantastic quadruple punch of tracks 3 to 6, which are, respectively, 'Unbalanced Pieces' (with Mike Patton himself serving as Lanegan's dark chorus), 'You Will Miss Me When I Burn' (Will Oldham-penned and truly heartbreaking waltzy dirge), 'Some Misunderstanding' (superb Gene Clark cover, which instantly made me want to return to that great performer's recordings) and 'All The Way Down' (a full-fledged gospel mourning song).
The only downside I can think of regarding 'Broken' is the fact that 'Sunrise', Mark Lanegan's own song cover sung in exchange by Will Oldham, did not make to the album, only appearing on 7" promoting the album. But hey, life's not perfect. If all the music released these days had only problems of that size...
