She’s got an angrier side expressed in the album with Ne-Yo, a major producer and co-writer, saying Rated R will be “something a little darker, something a little edgier, something a little more morbid.”
The album also pulls in stars like Justin Timberlake in ‘Cold Case Love’ (shaking fists at Chris Brown), and will-i-am with ‘Photographs’ (an acoustic guitar and heavy bass beats). She’s got a lot to say, and a newer, grittier attitude toward it all.

Rihanna further establishes herself as one of the biggest stars on the planet with her fourth album 'Rated R'. Overall, this album doesnt quite stack up against 'Good Girl Gone Bad' however it still contains some potential smash hits, namely: Hard, Rude Boy and FireBomb and also provides us with some insight directly related to the whole Chris Brown mess through the songs 'Stupid In Love' and 'Cold Case Love'. Overall, a great album that caters to a fairly diverse audience.

Rihanna offers us a great new album, very different from what we are used to hear from her. The atmosphere is darker, less pop. Of course, Rihanna is also known for is huge hits and Rated R is full of hits : Hard, Rude Boy, Wait Your Turn...It's a good evolution!

This has to be one of my favourite 2009 albums, it's rihanna at her best, shes grown up and is showing a different side to her, edgy, catchy, and a great pop album in general, cant flaw it!!

Good. Love some tracks which are abit sad and moody, not sure about those hardrock stuffs from her yet-feels like not so like her and not so original. But afterall, love her very much.

Its quite differant from her usual styles and you cant knock some of the brilliant songs like fire bomb; but i still think there is something missing from this album. It seems like alot of these songs are more balards and dont seems to follow on from what made good girl gone bad a great album. It still good but not great.

I feel this is a very varied product from Rihanna. I do not like all the songs but this is personal taste. I have 2 favourites on the CD.
Even on the tracks i'm not so keen on the way they have been written is very good.
