A year after playing near the bottom of the bill at the Reading Festival on a Friday afternoon Nirvana returned the following year as headliners on the Sunday night, the closing slot. During that time 'Nevermind' had gone ballistic around the world and they returned for what was to be their only festival headlining performance in the UK. There was an enormous amount of speculation as to whether Kurt Cobain would be fit enough to play as rumours of ill health were rife. This was only answered when he was brought on to the stage in a wheelchair then ripped into 'Breed'.
Nirvana played a brutal 90 minute set which spanned all 3 of their studio albums, including 'Negative Creep', 'Come As You Are' and of course 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'. The band also previewed 3 tracks from their then yet unrecorded 'In Utero' album, 'All Apologies', 'Tourettes' and 'Dumb'.
This is an essential purchase for all Nirvana fans as it captures the band at the peak of their career, and is a reminder that this band changed the music scene at the start of the 90's.
This set is also available as a DVD which really shows how explosive and fierce Nirvana were as a live band.
