Description
She’s worked alongside artists like Lenny Kravitz, Stevie Wonder and John Mayer in a whirlwind of success, and yet still has her heart set in working alongside charities. Her latest album The Element of Freedom was recorded in a three-storey house in Long Island turned into a studio.
Her love of piano carries on in this album, reiterating the singer’s style for jazz, soul and R&B. ‘Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart’s R&B beat keeps her lyrics of loss within a free and dreamy sound. Mix that with ‘Doesn’t Mean Anything’, a piano piece with Keys singing her heart out about loneliness without the one you love, and you have an album that will speak to the core of all who are trying to move on.

Comments about SBME/J RECORDS Alicia Keys - Element of Freedom:
I brought this album after a recommendation from a friend. I never really enjoyed previous Alicia Keys' albums but this is absolutely great.
I am sure that there are tracks here that most people would enjoy some of the tops tracks are; "4.Try Sleeping with a Broken Heart" and the wicked cover "14.Empire State of Mind (Part 2)" which is leagues ahead of the original.
Can't recommend this enough fantastic album!
Pros
- Below high level
Cons
- Not What I Expected

- Too Few Tracks
- Unoriginal

Comments about SBME/J RECORDS Alicia Keys - Element of Freedom:
Very, very ordinary album and because of that, just poor (but maybe it's too big word). Of course, you can't say that this is the disaster but mediocre always hurts me a lot.
Best songs in my opinion are "Like The Sea", "Try Sleeping With a Broken Heart" and "Unthinkable" which represent really good, high level of pop music. The rest is very unoriginal and you really won't find there much imagination.
I couldn't write that "The Element Of Freedom" is a big disappointment cause Alicia Keys has never excited me too much, so I didn't expect an "artistic mountains", but the impression is considerable dissatisfaction.

Comments about SBME/J RECORDS Alicia Keys - Element of Freedom:
This is without any doubt her best album to date. The title "The Element of Freedom" implies that she's really free to freely put all her emotions in songs. It's clear that she's growing as a musician with each album. The album starts with great and haunting intro "Element of Freedom" and flows into next track "Love Is Blind" - something totally different than her other songs and vocal change is really impressive. The next track and the first single "Doesn't Mean Anything" is classic Alicia Keys song - piano and great voice. Track 4 is stunning R%B gem "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart". "Wait Til You See My Smile" and "That's How Strong My Love Is" are her regular and not so innovative tracks. But, what makes this album special is track 7 "Un-thinkable (I'm Ready)" This is her best song in entire career IMO. It's so sensual dark with great beats, amazing lyrics (features Drake as a back vocal). After one more album filler "Love Is My Disease" comes upbeat "Like The Sea" followed by the weakest track on this album "Put It In A Love Song" (duet with Beyonce). This song has really simply lyrics and it's way to comercial to fit this album. After one more upbeat gem "This Bed" comes amazing ballad "Distance and Time" followed by introvent "How It Feels To Fly". Album closes epic ode to New York "Empire State Of Mind (Part II) Broken Down.
I gave 4 starts to this album because of certain number of typical fillers and too simply lyrics occasionally.

Comments about SBME/J RECORDS Alicia Keys - Element of Freedom:
I must admit I primarily bought this album for Empire State of Mind, but was surprised with some of the other songs. Empire State of Mind is quite different from the Jay-Z version that I was expecting but each version is good in their own way. The other main highlight of the album for me was the Beyonce and Alecia duet which I really enjoyed. Recommended.
